Buddy System Overview

The Buddy System was created to assist new residents in learning to provide patient care at TCH clinic. A resident-to-resident hands-on introduction to outpatient medicine may be the most important way to support new residents in succeeding in clinic. This improvement to our residency came from an idea proposed by residents.  

1.   All interns will have a senior resident mentor.

2.   Seniors are asked to read the clinic guide and consider how to best facilitate new interns learning this information.

3.   Written information will be provided to new interns.

4.   A teaching checklist (click on the link below) of orientation information to be covered will be used by seniors.

5.   July 7-13 will be buddy week- all seniors have a lighter-than usual schedule.

6.   July 14-18 will be the first day for new interns. Each intern is scheduled for two patients.
